Parental controls recommendations for 8 year old's tablet

Looking for advice on the best parental control setup. My daughter got a tablet for her birthday and I want to let her use it for educational stuff and some games but I'm paranoid about her accidentally clicking on something sketchy or stumbling onto inappropriate content. Using Apple's built in controls right now but wondering if there's something better out there? Any of you guys using third party apps?
