Quick q - is there a way to limit online multiplayer time without blocking access to the console entirely? My 10yo has a habit of playing Mario Kart online for like 6 hours straight on weekends and I want to cap it at 2 hours but let him still access single player stuff. Looked at the parental controls app but it seems kinda clunky. Anyone figured this out?
This is possible but honestly the interface is confusing as heck. Had to watch a YouTube video twice to get it right. Once you do it though it works perfectly and your kid can still access the console.
How old is your kid? The parental control setup assumes a main account that manages everything so depending on their age you might want to just set a regular time limit instead and call it good.
Yeah the Switch actually does this better than most consoles. Just go into Account Settings and you can create a child profile with play time limits separate from single player vs online restrictions. Took me forever to figure it out though.
Pro tip: restrict multiplayer between like 9pm-7am even if you're not limiting daytime hours. Saves so much drama about bedtime negotiations.

Parental Controls menu has a time limit section specifically for multiplayer. You can set it so they can play single player all they want but multiplayer shuts off after X hours. Total game changer for us.
