Question about phone age - when did you give your kid a phone?

My daughter is 11 and asking for a phone like all her friends have. She has decent grades and we have a good relationship so I'm leaning toward getting her one with restrictions. But I'm second guessing myself. What age did you guys do this and do you regret it? Looking for real honest answers not judgment.

We put it off until 13 with our oldest and honestly it's been fine. The waiting period gave us time to talk about screen time and responsibility first, which helped a lot when she finally got one.

Man, this is the question everyone's asking right now. Since she's got good grades and you two talk, you're probably in a better spot than most to make it work. Just maybe set some boundaries before you hand it over.
