Recommend: Scratch for teaching coding to 8yo

If anyone's looking to get their kid into coding without it being overwhelming, Scratch is legitimately great. My 8yo has been messing around with it for like 3 months now (started during winter break) and he's actually making little games that aren't totally terrible. Free, colorful, not boring, and he feels like a real programmer. The community aspect is nice too - he likes seeing what other kids made. Better than most of the paid "kids learn to code!" apps that are basically just marketing.
