My 9 year old has been begging for Robux for weeks. I set up parental controls and thought I was being smart but apparently his friends all have stuff and now I feel bad. Is this how it starts? Do I cave and let him buy some cosmetics or am I gonna open Pandora's box here? Please tell me someone else deals with this.
I feel this in my bones. My kids do the same thing with different apps. You set the boundaries but then they come home from school with a whole list of what their friends are doing. It's exhausting but you're doing the right thing sticking to your guns.
This is the worst. My kid also wanted Robux and I had to sit down and explain that free games still cost money if you're buying stuff in them. It's a hard lesson but important. Parental controls are your friend.
Oh man Roblox is a ripoff. Set up those parental controls ASAP if you haven't already. I learned the hard way when my 8 year old somehow spent like $40 on skins or whatever they call them.
Yeah that game is designed to squeeze money out of kids. Good call setting up parental controls. The fact that it asks for in-app purchases every five seconds is ridiculous.

Yeah the peer pressure thing is real. I've had to have some tough conversations with my kids about why everyone else having something doesn't mean they need it too. Parental controls help but the real battle is explaining it to them.
