Screen time battle with 6yo every single day

We do maybe 30 mins a day on weekdays but my son acts like we're torturing him when it's time to stop. The tantrums are unreal. He hides the remote, cries, the whole thing. My wife thinks I should be stricter but I'm already the bad guy. Other kids seem to get unlimited time and their parents don't seem stressed about it. Am I being too harsh or is this normal?

Kids will always act like you're torturing them when screens go off. It's not personal, it's just how their brains work at that age. Consistency is key though. Stick with your 30 mins and he'll adjust eventually.

My 6yo pulls the same drama. What actually helped was letting him choose what to do AFTER screen time ends. Like, he gets to pick the next activity. Gave him some control and the transitions got way smoother.

30 mins on weekdays is actually pretty reasonable, not harsh at all. The resistance is normal though, even when the limit is fair. We do a 15 minute warning before shutdown and it helps reduce the meltdown. Doesn't eliminate it but helps.
