My kids are in hybrid school and some days they're staring at a screen for 6 hours straight. Then they come home and have to do homework which is also online. I feel terrible making them do more screen time after that but what choice do we have? Teachers say it's necessary. Anyone found any solutions or tips to make this less rough on their eyes and brains?
Six hours of screen time in elementary school is wild when you think about it. Then adding more screen time at home for homework just compounds it. Have you talked to the teachers about offline homework options?
We pushed back on some of the homework requirements during hybrid and honestly the school was pretty receptive. Worth asking if some assignments could be done offline or printed out instead of digital.
The hybrid setup is brutal for screen fatigue. I noticed my kids were way more cranky on the WebEx days. We started making the rule that after school means we do literally anything but screens for at least an hour.

This is the thing nobody talks about with hybrid learning. The kids are exhausted and their eyes are tired and then you're supposed to get them to do more computer work. No wonder they're losing it.
