Screen time has gotten out of hand during winter

It's been cold and rainy for like 3 weeks straight and my kids have basically become glued to iPads and the Switch. We went from maybe 1.5 hours a day to like 4-5 hours easily. I feel like a failure as a parent but honestly it's been nice having some peace. Anyone else deal with this seasonal screen time creep? How do you handle it without feeling guilty or starting World War 3 in your house?
