Should I let my 10 year old play Fortnite with his friends?
Every kid at his school is playing it and he keeps asking. I looked into it and it's rated T for Teen so technically he's too young but like, every parent lets their kids play. The thing that worries me is he'll be on there for hours if I let him. How do you guys handle this? Do you set strict limits or just let them go? Also is it actually that violent or is the ESRB being dramatic?
T for Teen is the rating but honestly the content is fine for a 10 year old if you're monitoring what he's doing. The bigger issue is making sure he's not getting hooked on spending money in the game. Set boundaries on screen time and you'll be okay.
This is one of those things where you've got to make your own call but the social aspect is real for his age. Kids bond over games now instead of trading cards. Just monitor it and keep an eye on his screen time. Not inherently bad if managed.
