I am NOT okay with this. Yes, our 9 and 12 year old spend too much time gaming, but a hidden camera to spy on them? I said this crosses a line but apparently I'm not "concerned enough" about the problem. This feels like a trust issue more than a tech issue. Am I wrong to be this upset about it? How do you guys handle monitoring without feeling like a Big Brother?
This would honestly make me more mad than the screen time issue. Talk to your wife about why she felt she needed to go this far without telling you first.
Have you two sat down to talk about this yet or are you still processing? Because I think that conversation needs to happen before anything else.
Yeah that's a conversation you two need to have ASAP. Monitoring is one thing but a hidden camera feels like a trust issue that goes way beyond screen time. Your kids are old enough to deserve some privacy in their own home.
The Ring camera thing feels off to me too. I use parental controls and we talk about screen time but a hidden camera in common areas? That crosses a line.
Curious what she was actually worried about. If it's just screen time there are way better ways to handle it. If it's something else that might explain why she went this route.

I get the screen time concern but wow that's an invasion of privacy. What if you set actual limits together instead? Like screen time ends at 7pm, gaming on weekends only, whatever works for your family. Hidden surveillance isn't the answer.
