Apparently my 10 year old figured out how to use my credit card on his phone for in-app purchases. Spent 80 bucks on gems or whatever for some game. I'm furious at myself for not catching this sooner. Apple refunded it but I feel like I really dropped the ball. How do you prevent this? Do I just not save payment info? Do I need to look at parental controls?
Oh man that's a nightmare. $80 on a game though, could've been way worse. Definitely time to lock down those payment methods though. Did you get the charges reversed?
This happened to us too. We went through the payment with him and made him understand what 80 dollars actually means in terms of chores or saving. Then we had him help us figure out how to pay some of it back.

Apple and Google are usually pretty good about refunding stuff like this if you explain it was unauthorized by a kid. Worth reaching out to them directly.
Set up parental controls on the app store right now. Family Sharing with approval required saved us from this exact situation.

Yikes. First step is disable purchases on your account. Second step is actually sitting down with him and explaining what he did and why money matters. Don't just let it slide or he'll think it's okay.
Contact the app company and the credit card. Apple and Google actually refund these if you report them as unauthorized. Might as well try before you make your 10 year old do extra chores for months.
