Success: Got my kids off TikTok
Just wanted to share a win. My 12 and 14 year old were spending 3+ hours a day on TikTok, doing homework with one eye on their phones, couldn't eat dinner without checking feeds. Finally had a real talk with them about how the algorithm is designed to be addictive and that social media companies literally employ people to make it harder to quit. Showed them some videos about how it affects attention spans and mental health. They weren't happy at first but they deleted the app and honestly they seem way happier now. More present at family stuff. Took like 2 weeks for them to stop asking about it.
That's awesome, seriously. We did something similar last year and it completely changed dinner time. Now my kids actually talk to us instead of staring at their laps. How'd you get them to stick with it?
