The phone talk

Finally broke down and got my 13yo his first real phone. Thought we had boundaries set up but caught him up at midnight in some group chat. We had a good talk about it but now I'm paranoid. Is this normal? Do I check his phone or is that a privacy violation at this age? Looking for real world advice not the lecture about digital safety.

This is the hardest part of parenting right now. The technology moves faster than our ability to set good rules. What boundaries did you end up landing on?

Caught mine doing the same thing. Thought I could trust the parental controls but kids are way more tech savvy than we give them credit for. Still trying to figure out the right balance here.

Oh man, the phone boundaries talk. We had a whole plan too and then I caught mine on Discord way past bedtime with the brightness turned way down. The sneakiness was worse than the actual phone use.
