Using parental controls - worth the hassle?
Just set up Apple Screen Time on my kids' devices and it's kind of a game changer but also feels like I'm being spied on. My 14 year old got mad when she realized I could see her usage but I explained it's not about trust it's about protection. She still thinks I'm controlling. Is this the way to go or should I just let them have more freedom at this age? Part of me feels like I'm being the tech police and it's not healthy.
I use it and yeah it's kind of invasive feeling at first but it works. My kids know the limits now and I don't have to fight about it constantly. Fair warning though, kids get creative about trying to work around it.
The hassle is real but the payoff is worth it. You get actual data on what they're doing instead of just guessing. Plus when they hit their limit it just cuts them off, no argument. Takes the pressure off you as the bad guy.
