When did your kids get their first phone?

Everyone in my daughter's 7th grade class has an iPhone except her. She's 12. My wife thinks I'm being unreasonable but the research on social media and anxiety is terrifying. Hate that I'm the bad guy here but I'm not ready. Anyone else holding the line or am I just being a caveman parent?

I get the pressure but I'm picking this battle. Waited until 14 with my oldest and it was fine. The social media stuff really can wait a couple more years.

My son is 12 and doesn't have a phone yet either. The research is real and honestly it's made this easier to stick with it. You're not being unreasonable, everyone else getting one doesn't mean it's the right move for your daughter.
