Seriously when did they add all these ads? My 5 year old keeps asking for stuff after watching these toy unboxing videos. The "content" is just kids screaming and opening boxes. I switched to PBS Kids and he's actually learning something instead of getting hyped up. If you haven't looked at YouTube Kids in a year or two, check it out again. It's way different.
Yeah the ads are out of control. We use it sometimes but I have to sit with my daughter because she absolutely will ask for stuff. Switched most of her screen time to other apps that are actually ad-free.
Same issue here with my 5 year old. We've gone back to DVDs and shows we actually own. Costs more upfront but at least there's no commercial aspect turning my kid into a consumer bot.
YouTube Kids has become basically a storefront with videos attached. The algorithm is designed to make kids want things now. We've pretty much switched to subscriptions only at our house to avoid it.
The algorithm has gotten way too aggressive about pushing ads. I started recording her shows on a tablet without internet so she can watch them ad-free. Bit of a workaround but it saves me from the constant asking.
Yeah that's been my experience too. The ads are relentless. I ended up just limiting screen time altogether rather than trying to find a good free option. Easier than explaining why they can't have whatever they're seeing.

YouTube Kids is basically a marketing platform now. My 4yo watches for like 10 minutes and suddenly wants every toy she sees. We switched to more curated apps where at least I control the content completely.
