Been using YouTube Kids on my 5 year old's tablet while I make dinner and I just caught him watching some weird channel with a dude doing creepy ASMR with kids' characters. I thought YouTube Kids was supposed to filter this garbage out. Feeling pretty angry right now. Switched to Netflix and Disney+ only now but would love to know what other parents are actually using that feels safe.
Yeah YouTube Kids is weirdly unreliable with what it lets through. I've had the same issue and now I just watch with mine during screen time instead of trusting the filter.
YouTube Kids isn't as locked down as people think. I caught my 5 year old watching some sketchy animation stuff too. Now I spot check what he's watching more often. YouTube algorithm is wild.
This is exactly why I've moved away from YouTube Kids to more curated apps. The 'weird stuff' keeps sneaking through their filters and you can't always trust what's getting recommended. What was he watching?
The filtering is terrible honestly. I've had to white list specific channels and creators for my kids because YouTube Kids still lets random questionable content through. You have to stay on top of it.

That creepy ASMR stuff is so weird, I don't blame you for pulling the plug on that. Might be worth just sticking to actual kids channels you've vetted first.
