Okay so I thought YouTube Kids was supposed to be filtered but my 5yo somehow got to a video about a dentist pulling teeth and it was graphic as hell. She was genuinely scared. I've restricted her to a specific playlist now but honestly the app is kind of a mess. Does anyone just use regular YouTube with parental controls instead? What's your setup?
This happened to us too with a video about some sketchy toy unboxing channel. The algorithm on YouTube Kids is seriously flawed. I switched to just downloading stuff from the library app and PBS Kids since we can control it 100%.
Same boat here. YouTube Kids' filtering is honestly a joke. I ended up just paying for a couple kids streaming services because I got tired of worrying about what would pop up next.
YouTube Kids is still not great honestly. My kid found some weird ASMR stuff that shouldn't have been on there. I ended up just disabling autoplay and manually approving everything now. Takes longer but way more peace of mind.
Have you reported the specific video? I know it seems pointless but I actually got responses a couple times when I flagged stuff. Also might want to check your content settings - there's different filtering levels you can adjust.

The inappropriate stuff sneaks through constantly. My 6yo watched something with jump scares last month and had nightmares for a week. Now I just use Common Sense Media to pre-screen anything before she watches it.
