YouTube Kids vs regular YouTube - real difference?

Anyone else notice that YouTube Kids still sneaks in weird "educational" content that's basically just ads for toys? My 5yo watched 20 minutes of what I thought was a nature show but it was literally just unboxing videos. Is there actually a better platform or are they all kind of the same scam?
