12yo questioning everything about God
My oldest is going through that phase where he's asking why God lets bad things happen, why different churches believe different things, whether evolution is real, all of it. Part of me loves that he's thinking critically but part of me is worried he's losing faith. Our pastor says this is normal but I'm not doing great at answering his questions. How do you help your kids develop a real faith instead of just inherited belief?
This phase is actually good. He's thinking critically about his faith instead of just accepting what he was told. I'd lean into the questions instead of shutting them down. Some of the best conversations I've had with my kids came from their doubts.
