Can we talk about discipleship and not just church attendance?

Feels like we go to church on Sunday and then live however we want the rest of the week. But actual discipleship means living it out daily right? My kids see me at church being all pious then hear me complaining about my neighbor or watching stuff I wouldn't want them seeing. Starting to think about what it really means to be a disciple and model that to my family. Anyone doing intentional spiritual formation outside of Sunday? What does that look like in your house?

We started a small group specifically around this and it's been eye opening. Being accountable to other dads doing the same thing helps way more than just conviction alone.

My pastor called this out last month and it wrecked me a little. I was totally living compartmentalized faith. Still working through what it means to actually live it daily not just perform it on Sunday.

This is it. So many people treat Christianity like it's just a Sunday thing. Real discipleship is Monday through Saturday living out what you claim to believe. Your kids are definitely picking up on the disconnect.

How do you even start shifting toward that though? Like practically speaking where does a normal guy with work and kids and exhaustion start?

Discipleship is the hard part. Anyone can show up to church. The real commitment is when nobody's watching and you're making decisions based on your actual beliefs instead of just convenience.
