Caught my son lying about homework and it broke me
So my 8yo told me he finished his math assignment when he didn't. I found out when the teacher emailed. My first instinct was to blow up but I stopped myself and thought about how I want him to see Jesus in me, not just anger. We sat down and I asked him why he lied instead of just telling me it was hard. Turns out he was embarrassed. We prayed together and talked about how God wants us to be honest even when it's scary. Then we did the homework together. I'm not perfect at this parenting thing but moments like this remind me why leading by example matters so much. If I lose my cool every time they mess up, how will they ever feel safe coming to me with real problems?
Man, I'm still learning patience with every little thing my son does, but moments like these are where it counts. Sounds like you handled it the right way by taking a breath first.
