Celebrating 1 month phone free at dinner time

We made a family rule that phones stay in another room during dinner and it's been incredible. The kids actually TALK now. My 8yo told us about her day, my 11yo made jokes, my wife and I actually know what's happening in their lives. Yeah we missed some texts and stuff but man the connection is real. Why did it take us so long to do this?
