Daughter asked me why I don't live like I preach

My 12 year old called me out yesterday. I was complaining about a coworker and being pretty uncharitable, and she was like 'Dad you're always saying to be kind like Jesus' and just walked away. Absolutely gutted me. She's right. I'm teaching her about grace and forgiveness but she's watching me hold grudges. Starting over today. Gotta walk the walk or the talk means nothing.

Ouch. But also, that's the good kind of ouch. She's paying attention to how you live and that matters. Sounds like a wake up call worth having.

12 year olds don't pull punches. She's watching how you handle conflict and stress more than she's listening to what you say about it. That's actually the moment to change something real.

That's tough but it's also an opportunity. You can talk to her about how you're going to do better and actually show her what that looks like. Kids respect honesty and effort.
