Family devotional advice needed

Trying to start a real family devotional time but my kids get bored with the traditional Bible story stuff. I need recommendations for something that actually engages 6 and 10 year olds. Looking for devotionals that ask good questions and don't feel preachy. Also open to just reading Scripture and letting them ask questions about it. What's worked for your family?

What about using videos or apps to start? I know it sounds counterintuitive coming from a digital parenting guy, but if it gets them interested in the actual story, maybe that's worth it. Then you discuss what they saw together.

Have you tried making it interactive instead of just reading? My kids ask a million questions when we do that. We also do a family prayer where everyone gets to pray for something. Keeps them engaged.

We switched to doing devotionals right after breakfast instead of before bed when everyone's tired. My kids are way more engaged now. Also we let them pick the story sometimes, makes them feel ownership of it.
