Finally had the talk with my son about purity

Been dreading this for weeks but did it yesterday. My 14 year old is a good kid, stays out of trouble, but I know the world is throwing garbage at him left and right. We talked about why God designed sex for marriage, what the Bible says about lust, and how he needs to guard his heart and his eyes. It was awkward for both of us but I'm glad I did it. He actually asked good questions instead of shutting down. Praying it sticks with him.

You're right that the world is throwing a lot at them. Having a dad who's willing to have the hard talks and not shy away is huge. Sounds like you handled it with the maturity he needs to hear.

That's a big conversation to have, and you showing up for it matters way more than getting every word right. My oldest appreciated that I was real with him about it too.

That's a big conversation. How did it go? My son is 14 too and I've been putting this off. I want to have it but also don't want to mess it up or make it weird between us.

I'm not there yet with my newborn but this is one of those things I know is coming. How did you start the conversation? Like did you sit him down and say 'we need to talk' or make it more casual?

Props for actually doing it. A lot of dads avoid that conversation entirely. The fact that he's a good kid and you two have that foundation probably made it easier. Did you follow a specific approach or just wing it?
