Getting called out by my kids for not living what I preach

This hit different yesterday. I was lecturing my son about being honest and truthful, and my daughter (she's 9) looked right at me and said "But dad you told grandma you were too busy to visit when you actually just wanted to watch the game." Man, that stung. I realized I've been falling short on the whole "lead by example" thing and my kids are watching everything I do. Been trying to walk the walk more intentionally now. Humbling moment but needed.

Been there with my three and it stings in the best way possible. Those moments when they catch you slipping are actually gifts if you think about it, keeps you honest and shows them that admitting mistakes is strength, not weakness.

Man, that's tough but also the moment that changes everything. Kids have this way of holding up a mirror that we can't ignore. The fact that you're even bothered by it means you're already halfway to doing better.

Oh man, this one stung. I was giving my son a talk about telling the truth and he looked at me and said 'Dad, you told Grandma you liked her meatloaf last week.' Game over. I had nothing.

Been there. My kid called me out for saying I was too tired to help with homework when I was clearly scrolling Instagram. Kids don't miss anything.
