Getting called out by my son for not living what I teach

My 8 year old literally caught me yelling at another driver yesterday and said "Dad you always tell me to be kind to people." Humbled me real quick. He's right. How am I supposed to teach him Jesus's love and forgiveness if he watches me rage at strangers? Been praying about this and trying to do better. Kids are like spiritual mirrors man.

Man, that's tough but also kind of awesome. Kids are like mirrors, right? My oldest called me out last week for something similar and it hit different coming from them. The fact that you're feeling humbled means you're already doing the hard work.

Dude, this is real parenting right here. We all lose it sometimes, but what matters is how we respond. Sounds like you took the feedback well, and your son will remember that more than the yelling.

Oof, that's the kind of moment that sticks with you. Your son's got a good heart though, and he learned that from you. The fact that he felt safe enough to call you out shows he respects what you're trying to teach.
