How do I stop losing my temper with my kids?

Man I'm struggling here. I want to raise my boys to be godly men but I keep yelling at them over stupid stuff like spilled milk or them not listening the first time. My wife pointed out that I'm not walking the walk if I'm flying off the handle every other day. She's right and it's convicting me hard. I've been praying about it but looking for practical tips too. Anyone else been through this? How did you learn to model patience for your kids?

I've been right where you are. Started praying before bedtime about it instead of just praying for them, started praying for my own patience. Sounds simple but it actually worked for me.

Real talk, I had to start taking a beat before I responded to my kids. Like actually leaving the room for 30 seconds to breathe. Changed everything for me. Doesn't make you weak, makes you the dad you actually want to be.

You're aware of it which is already half the battle. The yelling over small stuff is the hardest thing to control. I still catch myself going zero to ten over spilled milk. What triggers you the most?

The godly men thing is important to you and that's good, but remember they learn more from how you handle your mistakes than from you being perfect. Yelling at them and then apologizing teaches them way more than never yelling.
