How do you handle family getting mad about your parenting choices?

My parents think we're too strict with screen time and bedtimes. They let my kids do whatever when we visit which then messes up our whole routine for days. We're trying to raise them with discipline and boundaries because we believe thats how God wants us to parent but family thinks we're being too hard. Its creating tension. Anyone else deal with in laws or parents questioning how youre raising your kids? How do you handle it without being disrespectful?

We're dealing with this now with our daughter and it's so frustrating when routines get blown up. What helped us was sitting down before visits and just being real about what we needed from them. They want to be the fun grandparents, but they also want to help you out.

Man, this is tough because you're totally right about consistency, but grandparents are gonna grandparent. I've had to have some real conversations with my parents about how it affects my kid after visits. Sometimes it helps to frame it as 'I need your help sticking to these rules so my kid doesn't get confused.'
