My oldest just asked me why he should believe in God if I'm always stressed and complaining about work. Honestly it hit me hard because he's right. I'm not living what I'm preaching at all. How do you guys keep your faith real in front of your kids when life gets messy? What does that actually look like day to day?
I had this conversation with my son too. I explained that faith isn't about being perfect or never struggling. Even grown ups have doubts and bad days.
That's a tough one but I think honesty is the best approach. Kids are way smarter than we think and they can tell when we're faking it.
Maybe use it as a chance to be vulnerable with him about your own faith journey. Let him know it's not always easy and that's actually pretty normal.
Your stress and complaining are actually opportunities to show him what faith looks like when things are hard. Not some fake perfect thing but real trust.
This is when you get to model what faith actually looks like in real life. It's not about never being stressed or sad. It's about how you handle those things.
