How do you handle worldly influences on your kids?

Its getting harder to shield my kids from all the stuff out there without being too overprotective. Want them to grow up with biblical values but also not feel like theyre missing out on everything. How do you guys balance it? What conversations have worked for you in explaining why we do things differently than the world?
