How do you talk to kids about temptation?

My oldest is 14 now and starting to notice girls. I want to have the talk with him not just about the mechanics but about God's design for relationships and why waiting matters. Problem is I don't want to be preachy or make him feel ashamed about normal feelings. Looking for advice on how to have this conversation in a way that honors God but also connects with him where he's at. Any dads had success with this?

14 is the right age to have that conversation. Keep it real but not preachy. My dad just gave me the facts and talked about respect and responsibility. That stuck with me way more than him trying to be cool about it.

Frame it around character and making choices that align with his values, not just rules. At 14 they're starting to think more independently anyway.

The temptation piece is real. I'd focus on helping him understand why he feels drawn to certain things and giving him tools to handle it. Not shame, but awareness and choice.
