How do you teach kids about sin without shame?
My 8 year old lied about breaking a lamp today. I wanted to explode but instead we sat down and I asked why he was scared to tell the truth. Talked about how we all mess up and that's why Jesus came. Explained consequences matter but so does confession and forgiveness. Made him apologize to mom, do extra chores, but also made sure he knew I still love him and God still loves him. Sometimes I feel like I'm winging this parenting thing but I'm trying to show them grace like Christ shows us.
This is exactly what I try to teach my kids during sports too - that mistakes happen, but how you respond to them matters. Your 8 year old is learning that honesty is worth more than fear, and that's everything.
