How to teach kids about giving when we don't have much
We're doing okay financially but we're not wealthy by any means. My wife and I want our kids to understand generosity and serving others, but I don't want to be fake about it. We're thinking about having them pick some of their toys to give to a local shelter and volunteering as a family at a food bank. But my oldest asked why we should give away stuff when we need things too. How would you guys answer that? We want them to see faith as real, not just something for rich people.
Start small. Let them pick something to donate or volunteer time. My kids are more invested when they choose it themselves. They see giving as their thing, not just something their parents do.
