I messed up big time and my kids saw it
Got really angry at my wife yesterday over something stupid and said things I shouldn't have said. Our kids witnessed the whole thing. I felt ashamed but then I realized this might actually be an important moment. Last night I apologized to my wife in front of them and explained how I was wrong. Today my 10 year old asked if he could apologize to his sister for something too. Maybe our mistakes can teach them something about repentance and grace if we handle it right.
Kids will forgive you way faster than you'll forgive yourself. Just make sure you apologize to your wife genuinely and let the kids see you two work through it together. That's actually a good lesson for them.
What age are your kids? The impact varies depending on whether they really understood what was happening or not.
