Leading family worship time when you feel like you don't know enough

Want to start doing a real devotional time with my family instead of just going through the motions. Problem is I feel like I don't know the Bible well enough to lead it. What if my kids ask questions I can't answer? I work in construction not ministry. But I feel God calling me to be the spiritual leader in my home. Does anyone else feel inadequate for this? Any tips on how to start simple?

I started with just reading a Bible passage and letting my kids ask questions instead of me trying to have all the answers. Honestly, admitting I don't know everything has made it feel more real to them. We're learning together.

Same struggle here. I started just reading a chapter and asking my kids what they think it means instead of trying to explain everything. Turned out to be way better than my prepared speeches.

Have you tried any devotional apps or books specifically designed for families? I used 'The Jesus Storybook Bible' and it took a lot of pressure off me to have all the right words.

Honestly I think not knowing everything is actually an advantage here. Kids can tell when you're being real versus when you're performing. Just start with what speaks to you and go from there.

You don't need to be a Bible scholar to lead worship with your family, man. Start simple with a passage that speaks to you and just talk about what it means to your life. Your kids will get more out of your genuine attempt than a perfect presentation.

Same boat here in Boulder. Honestly, I just pick a short passage, read it together, and we talk about how it applies to our day. The kids ask better questions than I'd expect anyway. You're already doing better by wanting to make it real.

This resonates so much. I felt the same way at first but then realized my kids don't need a theologian, they need their dad to be genuine about his own faith journey. Start small and build from there.

There are some great devotional guides specifically designed for families that kind of take the pressure off. We use one and it's honestly made it less awkward than my own attempts.
