My 7yo asked me why God let his goldfish die and I had no idea what to say
So my son's goldfish died yesterday and he asked me point blank why God would let that happen. I fumbled through some answer about God having a plan and heaven and stuff but I could tell he wasn't satisfied. I'm not even sure I was satisfied with what I said. Anyone else dealt with these questions from their kids? I want to teach them faith but also be honest that some things hurt and don't make sense.
That's a really tough moment. Honest answer - I don't think there is a perfect response to that question. I'd probably tell him that sometimes sad things happen and it's okay to feel sad about it, and that his goldfish mattered because he loved it. Kids need to learn that death is real and grief is normal.
