My daughter asked me why we believe in God and I froze
She's 9 and asked point blank 'How do you know God is real?' and I realized I was about to give her some canned answer. Instead I told her the truth - that my faith comes from personal experience and the peace I feel in my life, and that I can't force belief on her but I can show her through how I live. We talked for like an hour. She asked real questions and I didn't have all the answers. Felt like a real breakthrough moment. Parenting is hard but moments like that make you realize how important it is to be genuine with your kids.
That's solid parenting right there. Kids can smell BS from a mile away, and she'll respect you way more for giving her a real answer than some rehearsed church response.
