My teenager thinks church is boring and I don't know how to respond

So my 14 year old told me youth group is lame and he doesn't see why he has to go every week. Part of me gets it, teenagers are hard to reach. But another part of me is worried he's starting to drift from his faith because everything in culture is pulling him away. I want to force the issue but I also remember being a teenager and how that backfires. Anyone had success getting their kids genuinely interested in their relationship with God rather than just going through the motions?
