Praying with my son before bed finally clicked

Been doing it for a couple years but tonight something was different. My 8 year old prayed for his friend who's struggling with his parents' divorce. Prayed with real compassion and maturity. I realized he's actually learning to have a real relationship with Jesus, not just reciting bedtime prayers. As his dad I'm doing something right here. Thank God for letting me see that progress.

That moment hits different when they really get it. My boy is 6 and we do the same thing every night and some nights it's just words but other nights you can tell he's really there, really thinking about who he's praying for. Those nights stick with you.
That's awesome man. Keep leaning into it. Some of my best memories with my kids have been in those quiet moments before bed. Eight is a good age for it to really start clicking.
