Raising godly kids in a secular world

We're trying to raise our children with strong Christian values but they're getting older and seeing the world more. My 12 year old came home asking why his friends don't go to church and why we do things differently. I want to give him good answers but also not make him feel like an outsider. How do you walk that line between standing firm in your faith and letting your kids learn to think for themselves? Any parents dealt with this?

Real talk, the best thing you can do is live out those values authentically in front of them. Kids can spot hypocrisy from a mile away. If your faith is genuine, that speaks louder than rules.

Man, this is the real challenge isn't it? I've got three kids dealing with the same thing in Kansas City. We found that having honest conversations over game night helps way more than just laying down rules. Your 12 year old asking questions is actually a good sign they trust you.

I coach flag football and see a lot of kids your age dealing with peer pressure and different worldviews. The key is making sure they understand the 'why' behind your values, not just the rules. Stay engaged with what they're learning and who they're spending time with.

This is such a tough balance. I think the key is letting them ask questions and having honest conversations rather than just shutting things down. They're going to encounter different worldviews anyway.

My kids are hitting that age too where they're starting to question stuff. It's actually good that they're thinking critically. That doesn't mean they're rejecting faith, just exploring it.
