Raising godly kids in a secular world - where do you draw the line?

My daughter wants to watch this show that's super popular with her friends. It's not explicitly bad but definitely has content that doesn't align with our values. I don't want to be the strict dad who isolates her from her peers, but I also want to protect her heart. How do you guys navigate this without making your kids feel like outsiders at school? Looking for wisdom here because this is harder than I expected.

This is the hardest part of parenting in my opinion. We usually ask ourselves: is this going to pull her away from her values or is it just surface level entertainment? Sometimes the answer is yes to both and we say no anyway. Sometimes we let it slide. There's no perfect formula.

What show is it? That might matter. My rule with my kids is I actually watch it myself first or at least read about it. Can't make good decisions about content if you don't know what you're deciding on.

I think the peer pressure angle is the real issue here more than the show itself. It's tough when your kid feels like the odd one out. We've had to have those conversations about not doing everything just because everyone else is.
