Raising godly kids in a world that doesn't want them to be

My 9yo came home asking why his friends at school make fun of him for saying grace before lunch. My heart sank a little but I'm also proud he's standing out. We talked about how being a Christian isn't always the popular thing and that's ok. Told him some of the best people I know are the ones who do the right thing when nobody else is. Is anybody else dealing with this pushback from secular culture? How do you help your kids stay confident in their faith when their peers think it's lame?

This is tough man. My oldest came home with similar stuff last year. We talked about how being different isn't bad, and that his faith is something to be proud of even if other kids don't get it yet. Might help to roleplay some responses he could give if it happens again.

I get this. Three kids here and we're raising them with faith too. The world's definitely pushing back harder than when I was a kid. Just keep reinforcing at home that what matters is what you believe, not what makes you popular at lunch.

Kids are cruel but also surprisingly open minded if you frame it right. Could you maybe talk to the teacher about doing a quick lesson on different traditions and beliefs? Doesn't have to be preachy, just normalizing that families do things different ways.
