Raising kids in a culture that fights against everything we believe

My teenagers are getting hit with so much at school and on social media that directly contradicts what we're teaching them at home and church. I don't want to be the overprotective dad that they resent, but I also see the stuff they're being exposed to and it scares me. How do you guys approach this without just saying no to everything? I want them to think critically about their faith, not just inherit mine, but also keep them grounded in truth. Some days I feel like we're losing the battle.

The culture clash is definitely there, but I try to remember that my kids are going to face pushback no matter what we teach them. It's our job to help them build a strong foundation so they can navigate it with confidence.

This is real and it's tough. I've found that having solid conversations with my kids about why we believe what we believe actually helps them think critically instead of just absorbing everything they see. They're smarter than we give them credit for.

The key thing I've found is not to just shut stuff down or forbid it, but to actually talk about why our values matter to us. Kids are way smarter than we give them credit for and they can tell when we're just being controlling versus when we actually care.

How are you managing their social media use? That's where most of the contradictory stuff seems to come from in my house. I try to stay on top of it but I also don't want to be the surveillance dad.
