Just had a parent teacher conference where they're pushing sex ed that conflicts with what we're teaching. Not trying to shelter my kids but I want them grounded in Scripture before the world tells them who they should be. Balancing openness with protection is tough. What approaches are working for your families? How do you talk about the world without condemning it?
This is the real challenge of parenting today. You're not wrong to want them grounded in Scripture first. That's wisdom not sheltering.
What specifically conflicts with what you're teaching? Sometimes the sex ed stuff isn't as bad as the announcement makes it sound.
You can absolutely request the opt out. Most schools have to honor it if you make the request in writing. Don't just assume you're stuck.
Grounding them in Scripture before the world gets to them is wise parenting, not overprotection. Keep standing firm on that.
The trick is teaching them to think critically about what the world is saying, not just saying no to everything. If they can defend their faith they won't lose it.
