Son asked me about other religions at school

My 9 year old came home asking why some of his friends celebrate different holidays and believe different things about God. I want to be respectful of other people but also help him understand why we believe what we believe. Tried to explain it but I'm honestly not sure I did a great job. Any of you guys dealt with this? How do you talk to your kids about our faith without being judgmental toward others?

I'd approach it as a learning moment rather than a defense of your own beliefs. Let him ask questions and be honest with him. Kids respect that way more than if we shut down the conversation.

This is such a great opportunity to teach him about respect and curiosity. My kids ask similar questions and we just talk about how different families believe different things and that's okay. He's at a perfect age for those conversations.
