My 6 year old's best friend lost his father last month and last night my boy asked me straight up why God let that happen. I froze. I gave him some answer about God's plan but man that was hard. How do you explain suffering to a kid in a way that doesn't wreck their faith? I want him to have real faith, not just blind faith.
That's heavy. At 6 years old he's trying to make sense of something adults struggle with. I'd probably just be honest that sometimes bad things happen and we don't always understand why, but we remember the people we loved. Keep it simple.
This is one of those moments where you don't need to have it all figured out. Just listen to what he's really asking and be there with him. These conversations are hard but they matter.
Oh man, that's a tough question for a kid that age. I'm not sure I have the right answer on this one but I know I'd want to validate his feelings and maybe ask him more about what he's thinking instead of jumping to explain God. He might just need to talk.

My son asked me something similar last year and honestly I just told him that sometimes people get sick and we can't always fix it, and that his friend's dad was a good person and they can always remember him. Not about God, just about the person and the love. Might help.
