Started praying with my kids at bedtime and everything changed

For the longest time I just let my wife handle the spiritual stuff with the kids. She finally called me out on it and asked why I expected her to do all the faith work. So I started doing bedtime prayers with my boys, nothing fancy, just thanking God for the day and asking Him to watch over us. My youngest actually started praying for his teacher who he said was mean. Something just shifted in our relationship and in the house. I feel like I'm actually being the dad and leader God called me to be instead of just the guy who pays the bills.

How old are your kids? Asking because bedtime negotiations are already my cardio and adding a prayer routine sounds like it could either be amazing or absolute chaos depending on the age group.

Love hearing this. My wife kept mentioning how important it was to her that we both be involved in that stuff. Took me way too long to realize she wasn't trying to guilt trip me, she was actually asking for help. Good on you for stepping up.

This resonates so much. I was doing the same thing until my wife basically said 'your turn' one night. Now it's become this really special thing between me and my kid before sleep. Something about that quiet moment just hits different.
