Teaching kids about giving when money is tight
Hate admitting this but we're struggling financially right now. Lost some hours at work and money is definitely tighter than usual. My kids asked why we can't give as much to church anymore and I almost made an excuse. Instead I was honest and told them we're having a tough season. Now my oldest is doing chores to earn extra money so we can still give our tithe. I didn't ask him to do that at all. Seeing him understand that you give to God even when it's hard, that faith means actually walking it out... man that got me. We might not have much but we're teaching them real lessons about priorities and faith. Sometimes the hard times are when they learn the most.
I respect you for being real about this. Teaching generosity when you're stressed about bills is actually the most important version of that lesson. Your kids will remember this.
Hate that you're going through this but love that you're thinking about teaching them anyway. That's real parenting. You hanging in there okay otherwise?
